Why Every Nigerian Hotel Must Track CPOR & GOPPAR
A full hotel is not automatically a profitable hotel. When diesel prices, Band A electricity tariffs, and replacement maintenance costs rise, a hotel selling rooms without knowing its Cost Per Occupied Room (CPOR) can easily price rooms below cost during promotions or negotiated stays.
Key Unit Profitability Formulas
- 1. CPOR = Total Monthly Operating Expenses ÷ Total Occupied Room Nights
- 2. Net Margin per Occupied Room = ADR − CPOR
- 3. GOPPAR = (Total Revenue − Total Operating Expenses) ÷ Total Available Room Nights
